We are seeking a skilled and motivated Stockperson / General Farm Worker to join our estate farming business on the edge of the beautiful Galloway Hills. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a progressive livestock enterprise where high standards of stockmanship, animal welfare and land management are central to the operation.

This permanent position would suit someone who is passionate about livestock farming and is looking for a long-term role within a well-established rural estate.
The Enterprise
The sheep flock comprises approximately 1,400 breeding ewes plus replacements, including:
· 900 Texel-cross ewes
· 500 pure Cheviot ewes
· 400 replacement ewe lambs
The flock lambs both indoors and outdoors from mid-March through to May, producing finished lambs, store lambs and replacement ewe lambs.
Alongside the sheep enterprise, the farm runs a 120 strong herd of approximately 50 pedigree Belted Galloway breeding cows, together with all followers and replacement stock.
The successful applicant will play an important role in the day-to-day management of the livestock enterprises while also contributing to the wider objectives of the estate.
The Role
Working closely with the Farm Manager, duties will include:
· All aspects of sheep husbandry, including gathering, lambing, dosing, vaccinating, scanning, dipping and flock health management
· All aspects of cattle husbandry, including calving, handling, dosing, vaccinating, scanning and herd health management
· Maintaining high standards of animal welfare and stockmanship
· Tractor driving and machinery operation
· Basic machinery servicing and farm maintenance
· Assisting with seasonal farm operations
· Supporting general estate and land management activities as required
The Candidate
We are looking for a practical, reliable and enthusiastic individual who takes pride in their work and enjoys working with livestock.
Essential requirements include:
· Proven experience working with sheep and cattle
· Significant lambing and calving experience
· Ability to provide and work their sheepdogs
· Excellent stockmanship and animal husbandry skills
· Competence in tractor driving and farm machinery operation
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Strong work ethic and attention to detail
· Full UK driving license
